We firmly believe that tanalised or pressure treated sheds are often misrepresented as maintenance-free. In our experience, the most effective way to preserve the quality of a shed is by regularly applying a coat of treatment. While pressure treatment is essential for timber that will be in contact with the ground, it is worth noting that despite its appeal, many experts in the shed industry agree that it can result in increased shrinkage and cracking compared to untreated wood. Neglecting to treat a tanalised shed would cause it to deteriorate, appearing discoloured and poorly maintained over time, and it would also be more prone to leakage during wet conditions.
